How these numbers are counted.

PRICE REPORTS

CoralTicker reads each shop’s own store pages on a schedule and records a price when it changes. Every figure in a price report is a count of those recorded prices, or a share of one count. Nothing is estimated.

What’s counted. Coral listings at the shops CoralTicker checks. Auctions aren’t counted, and neither are shops it no longer checks. A price far outside a listing’s own usual range is left out before counting.

Price drops and sale prices. A price drop is one change to a lower price. A sale price is one listing’s whole sale, from the price before its first drop to the price after its last, so a coral whose price dropped more than once counts once, at its total discount.

The old price. A sale price went back to the old price when the listing returned to a price it had held in the 30 days before the sale, to the cent.

Days. A day is a calendar day in UTC, and it’s the day a change was spotted. That can be a few hours after the shop made it, so a change spotted early one day may have been made the evening before.

Out of stock. A coral is out of stock when the shop’s own page shows none in stock. Out of stock isn’t the same as sold: a page can show none in stock for other reasons too.

What a report never shows. No report names a shop or links to a listing.

Dates. “Snapshot as of” and “Data through” both give the last day a report’s numbers cover. A report doesn’t change after it’s published.
